Pihitia Station

This week we went to Pihitia Station.  At Pihitia Station we got to do lots of stuff including shearing a sheep, watching farm dogs chase sheep and much more.  First, we got to watch a cow get milked while we were doing this we shook a jar of cream to make butter.  We also got to have a little bit of whipped cream.  Our next station was watching meat getting cut. When the butcher cut the meat he got each part of the meat into a pile, there was ribs, chops and all that other yum stuff.  

The 3rd station was the station where we got to weigh sheep.  We all had to sneak around the side of the fence to lure the sheep into the weighing machine.  After that, we weighed the sheep, if the sheep was too light we would put them in a different barn but if they were a good weight they went into another one and were sent off to the butcher.

After the sheep weighing, we went to check out the farm gadgets we got to watch a drone being flown it was pretty cool.  Next, we went to the sheep shearing where they were shearing sheep. The guy there chose Max to shear the sheep and Anroux to pull out the sheep. After the sheep shearing, we ate some food then went to the pest control station.  In there we found out how they kill wild cats and about stoats rabbits and possums.   

ICECREAM SUNDAY

last week we made an ice cream sundae, the day that koka terri left.  First we had to make instructions but the thing was we made them without knowing that we were actually going to use them to make an ice cream sundae.  We had a buddy to read ours for us some people didn't mention spoon so they were eating with their hands.  Rori Max Cash and Milo ate with their hands luckily I mentioned spoon so I wasn't eating with my hands. 

I think I should have added put a lot of sprinkles on my ice cream cause I said sprinkle a small amount and koka terri did 1 spoonful while the others got 2.  I had to read Max's and lets just say it wasn't the best first he didn't mention sprinkles then he was eating with his hands.  But Max's wasn't bad compared to Cash's, Cash had forgot about a spoon chocolate sauce and marshmallows.

LTP Beach

 This week in learning through play instead if doing the usual stuff we went to the beach.  The first time we went me and my friends made a massive hole with 2 seats on the edge.  We also made some sand balls to throw at each other.  I made a perfectly round sand ball and threw it at Momo.  

After that time at the beach we headed back and went home.  This time when we went to the beach I helped make a throne with bay for a while but then left to do some flips on the dunes.  After some time reef came to do some flips with me then Momo came.  Then I had a goal a goal to land a side flip I didn't succeed  

Automata

This week we had to do automata things.  I did mine with Max and Oskar,  first we had to plan what we were going to make, we started with something funny that little kids would recognise.  We decided to do a meme on the top of our automata and did chungus (a bunny rabbit)  this would give the kids a laugh because we were making our automata go up and down giving the people watching it get the feeling that it was hopping around.   

After that we had to form the automata we used a skinny box to start with and then cut some cardboard out so we could make the cam.  The cam is the bit that does all the work we did an egg cam so when you spin it around it makes the bit on top go up and down.  When me and Oskar were going to do the automata we changed the picture to Patrick from Spongebob, because we didn't like the bunny rabbit.  Then after that we started the finishing touches and finished the automata.

LTP

 In learning through play this week I did cardboard nation.  Cardboard nation is where you play with cardboard, rubber bands and other things, this week we attempted to build a house.  First we found a massive piece of cardboard, then I gathered lots of cardboard pipes for support beams.  We had found some plastic pieces that could go at the bottom of the pipes to make them stand, we put a support beam in the middle so it was stable.  After that me and Reef made headbands like the ones on naruto.

After laying the support beams down I found some wooden knife like pieces.  I gave one of the knife pieces to Max and one to Reef, after that we started building a window.  We had to get the craft knife so we could cut out a window.  After that we started to build a door it was very hard, first Reef tried but failed because his one was to skinny.  After that max builded the door and made it a double door.  we had to finish early because of something.

LTP

In learning through play this week, I did junky monkey.  In junky monkey you play with toys and recreate them with your imagination well not really but you get the point.  There's hammers, screwdrivers and many more other tools.  If you want you can put your creation in the still working on box, if you're planning to add more to it.  There is dolls, hard toys, soft toys and even electric toys you can take apart the toys and replace them with different things for instance, you take a turtle head off and replace it with a doll head.

This time, me and my friends decided that we would get the electric toys and make a shocking device. We found a 16 volt and a 10 volt.  After a little bit of play the teacher told us off because there was a sharp bit on the 16 volt.  We instead opened a battery up to see what was inside after a little while the battery started to heat up so we threw it in the bin.  After that we opened another but this time we got to see what was inside some of the acid went into Stormurs eye and it got all over our hands. Well that was this weeks Learning Through Play. We learned what was inside of a battery and that you have to be careful because there is acid inside!

LTP

In learning through play we go to different classes and do different things. This week I have only been doing planet construction, next week I'm going to do junky monkey or makey makey.  junky monkey is where you go play with headless, naked dolls and make them into other things like for instance you take a barbie head off and put a car on it.  

Planet construction is where there is lots of fun toys like lego and metal parts, that's where I was this week.  planet construction isn't that easy though cause in the next week koka Lea is going set up challenges, for instance you have to build an airplane with only squares. 

Cardboard nation is a place where you create lots of things with cardboard, people make things like helmets, armour and vehicles.  I haven't been to cardboard nation yet but I might give it a try next week.
